Mortar Capital is the Principal and Joint Venture residential development arm of Pacific Investments.

Pacific Investments is a multi-asset fund management group encompassing real estate, traditional and absolute return strategies to offer investors access to a fully diversified range of investment products. Pacific's management, and businesses founded by Pacific have developed more than 70m sqft. of real estate assets globally, across multiple sectors.

The management team has experience in direct investments, development, private funds, property companies (private and quoted), take-privates, mezzanine finance, property derivatives and asset-backed operating companies. The Pacific team members come from multi-disciplined backgrounds with the skills and resources required to source, structure and execute transactions as well as maximise returns through value enhancing asset management, sophisticated deal structuring and implementation of exit strategies.

Piers Beckwith

Piers joined his family office, Pacific Investments Group in 2007 having successfully sold Media Run Group, an online advertising business which he ran with Adam Murray for 3 years. While at Pacific, Piers has established three successful Real Estate businesses: Pacific and York Ltd (UK PRS), Red River USA LP (Miami based resi development) and Trinity River Developments (Dublin based resi development). Piers is the CEO of Mortar Capital, the residential development arm of Pacific Investments. His experience and business acumen are fundamental to the success of the business. Piers qualified as a Chartered Accountant at KPMG in 2004.

If not at a Chelsea game, Piers enjoys skiing and playing tennis.

Sebastian Steane

Sebastian joined Mortar Capital in January 2018, as Development Manager. He is responsible for Mortar Capital’s deal structure and flow, and takes an active role throughout the development lifecycle in all of Mortar Capital's deals. Sebastian began his career in Finance, before moving into Real Estate, originally with Balfour Beatty, and most recently with Arcadis, where he managed their Joint Venture development consultancy business.

In his spare time, Seb enjoys running and has completed 2 city marathons, playing the occasional game of Cricket and watching live sport.

Jamie Waldegrave

Real Estate Investment Manager

Jamie joined Mortar Capital in October 2020, as a Real Estate Investment Manager. Jamie began his career in Finance at PriceWaterhouse Coopers, where he qualified as a chartered accountant, before moving into tech with the PropTech company Coniq. While CFO Coniq Jamie helped the company grow from a start up to a team of over 100. During this time Coniq won accounts with Land Securities, Unibail Rodamco Westfield, Value Retail, and many other property majors.

Depending on the season, Jamie spends most of his spare time cycling up mountains, or skiing down them.

Sir John Beckwith

Group Chairman

Sir John Beckwith is the Founder and Chairman of Pacific. Sir John’s track record in real estate and asset management spans over 40 years. Since 1971, Sir John has established many successful businesses investing in global real estate markets which have delivered attractive returns to their partners and investors. In 1996, Sir john was made Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE), and in 2002 he was knighted for his service to youth sports. In 2000 he was awarded an honorary Doctor of Letters degree by Loughborough University. Sir John qualified as a Chartered Accountant and ATII with Arthur Andersen.

Doug Rogers

Director

Doug joined Pacific in 2000 and currently heads the Beckwith family office. Doug is responsible of all aspects of the portfolio, including investment structuring, management incentive schemes, acquisitions, disposals and fundraising. Prior to joining Pacific, Doug worked with Price Waterhouse in Brisbane for eight years, specialising in corporate tax structuring. Doug is a Chartered Accountant.

Stuart Roberts

Group Finance Director

Stuart Roberts is the Group Finance Director of Pacific, overseeing multi–jurisdictional reporting and tax compliance across all group companies and partnerships. Stuart joined Pacific in 2003, prior to which he worked at Zurich Financial Services in their London insurance office reporting to the US and to Switzerland. Stuart qualified as a Chartered Accountant at Deloitte & Touche. Before training as a Chartered Accountant, Stuart taught economics and politics at Merchant Taylors School in Northwood.
